What a rich season of adoption we're in at GLA! This week we sent home 7 children to families of their very own, and next week 5 more. This is for keeps guys!

I am exuberant over these kids' futures, their new beginnings! And I am grateful to see the start of the adventure. Today they are flying to new homes, new faces, new sights, smells, seasons! Can you imagine it? Our hearts are bursting!

We are blessed to be able to watch these children grow for a time, knowing all the while we are a temporary stop on their journey. In the beginning goodbyes were bittersweet. You miss seeing sweet faces in the nursery, or hearing little voices shouting out "come talk with me!" in Creole. And although I'll miss them, I no longer feel bittersweet over their leaving. How could I? I cannot love and protect each child the way a parent can, I cannot share in mischief with them the way a sibling can. I cannot dote on them the way a grandparent can. I am merely a substitute. They deserve better. And now they have what had been denied them, a family. For me, there is nothing bitter about that. Only sweetness.

We love these children with all of our hearts. But we are no substitution for family. So I believe I speak for all of us at GLA when I say it is an honor to be a stepping stone. We will miss you all and hope to see you again in the future. But God has placed you right where you belong and we are so very excited to see where He takes you from here!!

"For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." Ephesians 2:10 NLT

We are so thankful that you and the team are that special stepping stones in their lives as they learn of God's Love for them. My prayers are that God will use each one there in special ways, give you His double portion of strength, wisdom, discernment and the infilling of the Holy Spirit as you deal with your littlest angels. God bless your work. May all the children be blessed in their new environment.
